Photography has always been a constant companion of mine. When I was 6 years old, I remember begging my grandmother to take me to CVS and buy me an underwater film camera. I would make sets in my house with craft paper as the backdrop and Barbie dolls as the models. My grandma always said, “photography is reality and I like reality.” My photographs are the view of my reality, what goes on in my head, and how I see the world. I think there is beauty in absolutely everything and I’ve been blessed with the eye to see that. I don’t necessarily have a certain style, whatever I feel in the moment of wherever and whatever I’m capturing, I just simply take. It’s the only thing that relaxes my mind from all the stress, worry, and thoughts that take over the everyday mind. It’s my outlet – my way of connecting to myself and to the world. I have always felt the most like myself when I am surrounded by other cultures in other parts of the world, and then of course, my camera is there too.
